Brookwood Medical Center Expands OptiVox Hand-off Tool

Birmingham, Ala., January 5, 2009

Brookwood Medical Center recently expanded its implementation of the OptiVox® hand-off communication system to include Psychiatric Services among other areas. An OptiVox customer since 2005, Brookwood’s expansion will support the hospital’s efforts to standardize hand-offs enterprise-wide.

With OptiVox, hand-off reports are entered and received through any phone or computer. Hand-offs records are accessible through OptiVox Advisor, a web-based tool used to monitor and manage hand-offs across the continuum of care. Leaders use the tool to train and evaluate staff in hand-off quality, competency and compliance.

Brookwood implemented the SaaS (Software as a Service) version of OptiVox for secure internet and phone access to remotely-hosted software applications. The hosted service enabled the hospital to expand the technology without a large investment of technical or capital resources. Hardware and software sizing, provisioning, installation and maintenance are handled by OptiVox to ensure immediate availability for hospital users.
