Four-time Magnet Hospital Selects OptiVox to Support Nursing Excellence Atlanta, Ga., January 21, 2010Saint Joseph’s Hospital of Atlanta recently selected OptiVox to manage hand-off communication across its 410-bed facility in Atlanta. Saint Joseph’s is recognized as one of the top specialty-referral hospitals in the Southeast. The decision to implement OptiVox reflects the hospital’s long-term commitment to nursing. Saint Joseph’s was the third hospital in the world and the first hospital in Georgia to earn Magnet recognition for nursing excellence. The hospital is one of two worldwide to be re-designated with this distinction four consecutive times. “Saint Joseph’s is strongly committed to finding new ways to incorporate technology to enhance patient outcomes, safety and satisfaction,” said Kim Sharkey, chief nursing officer. “OptiVox supports nurses at the bedside by streamlining and monitoring the hand-off process.” OptiVox supports nursing excellence by improving the quality and efficiency of communication among caregivers. Hand-off reports are entered and received at any time, through any phone or computer. Reports are indexed by patient for quick retrieval and action. The OptiVox online monitoring system also notifies viewers of hand-off delays and alerts responsible parties in the event of an incomplete hand-off.
