The White Stone Group Launches New Release of TRACE

The White Stone Group, Inc, has announced the first installation of a new release of TRACE, its software built to track communication across the healthcare revenue cycle. TRACE captures voice, fax and electronic communications for enterprise-wide retrieval through a searchable web tracking system.

A new version of TRACE has been installed at San Antonio Community Hospital, a 279-bed acute care facility in Upland, Calif. The hospital initiated implementation in Business Services to document patient verification and authorization activities.

“With the new release, hospitals can customize TRACE to fit the unique processes and data needs of each department,” said Jeff Peters, President of The White Stone Group. “Expanded indexing, sorting and notification capabilities allow for seamless movement of data across the continuum of care.”

“The real value comes up at the end of a day when we can use a TRACE record to save an at-risk account,” said Karen Stephenson, director of Business Services.

Prior to implementing TRACE, San Antonio lacked a system to accurately document exchanges to support patient care. When the hospital received partial authorization for a patient’s stay, staff spent significant time reworking accounts and collecting records to support additional days.

“Staff would look at their notes and try to remember, ‘Did they say to the 21st or through the 21st?’ The difference in those two words can mean a day of additional coverage,” explained Stephenson. “With TRACE, we can go back and listen to the call recording to nail down exactly what was said.”

The new version of TRACE offers enhanced workflow capabilities such as notifications, alerts and record sorting. Full HL7 integration with hospital systems facilitates quick indexing of patient records. An unlimited number of custom fields allows sorting of records by physician, date of service, follow-up and other criteria.
