East Jefferson General Hospital Selects OptiVox to Manage Patient Hand-offs, Promote Nursing Excellence

Metairie, La., July 20, 2009

East Jefferson General Hospital (Metairie, La.) has purchased OptiVox® to make patient hand-offs smoother and more efficient facility-wide. OptiVox combines telephone delivery and online access to hand-off records for improved monitoring and management.

A 450-bed community hospital, East Jefferson was the first hospital in Louisiana to earn Magnet Status for nursing excellence from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. OptiVox supports nursing excellence by improving the quality and efficiency of communication among caregivers.

With OptiVox, hand-off reports are entered and received through any phone or computer and are accessible through OptiVox Advisor, a web-based tool used to monitor hand-offs across the continuum of care. Leaders use the tool to train and evaluate staff in hand-off quality, competency and compliance.

Through OptiVox, hand-offs are monitored in real-time to ensure that they are completed in a timely fashion and with the appropriate information for each patient. Studies show that improving hand-off accuracy and efficiency helps ensure patient safety during the transition of care.
