Presbyterian Healthcare Services Selects OptiVox Hand-off Tool for Quality, Patient Safety Improvement Knoxville, Tenn., June 1, 2009OptiVox® today announced the purchase of its hand-off communication tool by Presbyterian Healthcare Services (Albuquerque, New Mexico). Presbyterian Healthcare is a not-for-profit system of hospitals, a health plan and a growing medical group serving communities throughout New Mexico. The health system purchased OptiVox to make patient hand-offs smoother and more efficient across its organization. With OptiVox, hand-off reports are entered and received through any phone or computer. Hand-offs records are accessible through OptiVox Advisor, a web-based tool used to monitor and manage hand-offs across the continuum of care. Leaders use the tool to train and evaluate staff in hand-off quality, competency and compliance. Through OptiVox Advisor, hand-offs are monitored in real-time to ensure that they are completed on time and with the appropriate information for each patient. Studies show that improving hand-off accuracy and efficiency helps ensure patient safety during the transition of care. Presbyterian implemented the SaaS (Software as a Service) version of OptiVox for secure internet and phone access to remotely-hosted software applications. The hosted service facilitates technology implementation without requiring a large investment of technical or capital resources. Hardware and software sizing, provisioning, installation and maintenance are handled by OptiVox to ensure immediate availability for hospital users.
