Ingalls Memorial Hospital Implements OptiVox SaaS in Less Than 30 Days

Harvey, IL, August 4, 2008

Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, IL, went live with OptiVox less than 30 days after purchasing the hand-off communication solution from The White Stone Group, Inc.

Ingalls implemented OptiVox to standardize and monitor hand-off communication among caregivers. Utilizing the Software as a Service (SaaS) delivery model, Ingalls employed OptiVox without expending technical or capital resources.

"We’re going through a lot here now in terms of technology facelifts, so a project like this that as massive rewards for the nursing department but that didn't require a lot of attention on our part was great," said Doug Buffone, Director of Information Technology.

The SaaS delivery model offers secure internet and phone access to OptiVox software applications that are hosted at a remote data center. Hardware and software sizing, provisioning, installation and maintenance are handled by The White Stone Group to ensure immediate availability for hospital users. Built-in redundancies ensure the system’s security and availability.

"Our biggest concern surrounded resource constraints. We have a lot on our plate here this year," said Buffone. "The White Stone Group came through by not overloading us with work. The group organized and implemented so quickly that there was no disturbance in IT."

Within two days of training, Ingalls began operating OptiVox on 24 units with 450 registered users. The hospital is now using OptiVox for an average of 3,500 hand-offs on a weekly basis.

"We were able to get this product into production amazingly quickly," said Buffone. "We were looking for minimum intervention on our part, and that is exactly what we got. It's running excellently, and we couldn’t be happier with the way it went in."
